The days a getting shorter and the mornings are getting crisper and mistier...

Around the home

The weather is turning decidedly cooler and winter is around the corner. Now is a great time to make sure the outside of your property is weather proof for the upcoming cold, frosty and wetter days ahead. Wooden sash windows in particular can do with sanding, sealing and redecorating to make sure that a solid weather-proof shell is in place. External masonary can always benefit from removing old flakey paint, adding a stabiliser to ensure surfaces are solid and then a good lick of paint to seal things up and ensure no matter what the weather throws at you, you'll stay cosy and dry inside.

In the Garden

With the days becoming shorter the growing season is really coming to an end, but there are still plenty of jobs to be done in the garden. Now is a great time to apply lawn feed to prepare for wintery weather. There is still the opportunity to add new seed on patches that have suffered over the summer months. With regular watering, within a couple of weeks, fresh shoots should be well on the way and filling in those patches in the lawn. Now is also a great time to plan ahead and plant some tulip and daffodil bulbs for the spring. For a natural look, scatter handfuls and plant them where they land.
